US reaffirms commitment to remembrance, truth and justice at Srebrenica commemoration

The United States reaffirmed its commitment to remembrance, truth and justice during Saturday's commemoration marking the anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide.

John Ginkel, Chargé d'Affaires of the US Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina, joined survivors and victims' families at the memorial ceremony in Potočari to pay tribute to those killed.
In a post on X following the ceremony, the US Embassy in Sarajevo said the United States remains committed to preserving the memory of the victims and supporting justice and reconciliation.
"At today’s Srebrenica Genocide Memorial commemoration, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. John Ginkel joined survivors and families in honoring the victims and reaffirmed the United States’ enduring commitment to remembrance, truth, and justice. We remember those who were killed, honor those who survived, and support the path toward lasting peace and reconciliation," the embassy said.

The statement came after the central commemoration and collective funeral at the Srebrenica–Potocari Memorial Centre, marking the anniversary of the genocide committed against Bosniaks in July 1995.
