Bosnia Presidency Chairman Zeljko Komsic will meet US special envoy for the Western Balkans Gabriel Escobar, who is arriving in Sarajevo in a few days for the first visit since his appointment.

Komsic and Escobar will meet on Monday, November 8, the Presidency Chairman's Office told Fena news agency.

The US envoy is also set to meet with speakers and deputy speakers of both chambers in the State Parliament.

His visit comes amidst ongoing political crisis, when representatives of Bosnia's Serb-majority region Republika Srpska are boycotting the work of the state institutions in response to the Criminal Code changes that introduced a ban on genocide denial and glorification of war criminals.

Reportedly, Escobar is not planning to meet with Serb member of the tripartite Presidency Milorad Dodik, who announced withdrawal of Republika Srpska from the central government in Sarajevo.

US embassy in Sarajevo also confirmed the visit, announcing that Escobar would be in Sarajevo and Banja Luka, Republika Srpska's administrative centre, “to reiterate the US support to BiH's sovereignty and territorial integrity.”
