Paul Ahern, US Acting Assistant Secretary of the Treasury, arrived in Sarajevo on Thursday within his visit to the region, where he met Bosnian Security Minister Selmo Cikotic.
Ahern is in the region to get informed about the threats that the organised crime and corruption pose for the stability and prosperity of the Western Balkans.
He talked to Cikotic about the ways how the United States could help Bosnia and Herzegovina fight organised crime and achieve strategic goals in sectors of security and integration processes.
They exchanged views on more effective sanctioning of criminal groups and individuals, as well as the sanctions that the US Treasury Department recently imposed on certain companies and persons in the region due to destabilising and corrupt behavior, according to the Security Ministry's statement.
