US Special Envoy for the Western Balkans Gabriel Escobar has arrived in Sarajevo where he is meeting the representatives of the ruling coalition in Sarajevo Canton, learns N1.
Reportedly, the representatives of the People and Justice (NiP), the Social-Democratic Party (SDP) and the Our Party (NS) are meeting the US diplomat at the residence of the US Ambassador.
Escobar has visited Bosnia and Herzegovina several times over the past few months, with the latest visit taking place a day after the US Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control has added two more Bosnian officials to the list of sanctioned individuals.
He will also virtually address the Open Balkan Summit kicking off in Ohrid, North Macedonia on Tuesday.
The US Embassy in Sarajevo confirmed in a statement to N1 later during the day that Escobar will attend the meeting of the Peace Implementation Council's Steering Board. He will also express full support of the US to the Office of the High Representative and the mandate of High Representative Christian Schmidt. He will also meet with the NATO and EUFOR commanders in Sarajevo to discuss their joint commitment to the stability, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the embassy told N1.
