The United States is committed to its partnership with Bosnia and Herzegovina, the administrator of the US Agency for International Development (USAID), Samantha Power, said on Thursday, after she arrived in the country for a three day visit the day before.
“It's very moving for me to be back here in Bosnia and Herzegovina, a country I lived in and worked in as a young war correspondent back in the 1990s. Today I’m here as a USAID administrator, incredibly proud of the programmes that we have been supporting over the 26 years since the Dayton Peace Agreement, investments in economic opportunity, in young people in independent media, in anti-corruption work,” she said.
Power said she will meet with “the true leaders in this country, the people who refuse to give up on the cause of freedom, unity and prosperity.”
“I'm really excited about sitting down with them and hearing from them about what more we can do to support the cause of democratic accountability in Bosnia,” she said.

“It's a difficult time for the people of this country, very challenging political developments but it's a great opportunity for me to convey the enduring support of the US and the American people for this incredibly important partnership between the out two countries,” her video message said.
