Vaccination of people over 65 begins in Bosnian city of Banja Luka

Health officials began vaccinating Banja Luka residents older than 65 against the coronavirus on Saturday and the inoculation is taking place in the amphitheatre of the Institute of Public Health of the Republic of Srpska entity, for which around 9,000 citizens applied.

Doctor Vesna Lucic-Samardzija pointed out that the immunization process is performed in parallel with the vaccination of health workers, retired health workers from the City Health Centre, and beneficiaries and employees in institutions for the elderly and other institutions for accommodation and long-term care.

"The plan is to vaccinate 40 people who applied to family medicine teams last week. We expect that the mass vaccination will begin next week," Samardzija told reporters.

She stated that the vaccination process will also depend on the preparation of the hall in which it will be performed.
On March 9, the Republika Srpska entity Ministry of Health and Social Welfare published a public call for applications for vaccination of persons older than 65, because they belong to one of the priority groups.
