Where is the Western Balkans going? was the main question of the three-day Sarajevo plenum "Quo vadis, Balkan?". Fifty distinguished participants from various spheres of social life discuss critical issues shaping the future of this region. Commenting on the Republika Srpska (RS) entity President, Milorad Dodik's messages from Russia, regarding the referendum on the RS independence and the possible joining of Serbia, Kosovo politician and lawyer Azem Vlasi, who took part in the plenum, told N1 that he believes Dodik would not have the support of the President of Serbia, who "nevertheless, still cares about Serbia".

“Every day he comes up with new nonsense, I think he has turned into a political adventurer, he is not even aware of the consequences that such irresponsible behaviour can cause. And what does he want with that referendum, disassociation? What does he want and who does he want to disassociate from? An entity of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina, an entity that has its entity status under the Dayton Agreement, an arrangement that constitutes BiH. Of course, it cannot be a separate state. Let's see if Vucic would welcome him. I don't think he would because Vucic still cares about Serbia,” Vlasi pointed out.

When asked if the idea of the ‘Serbian world’ was still alive, Vlasi said:

“A Serbian song says: ‘Everything's the same, only he's gone’, these are all the same ideas from Milosevic's time, but [former Serbian President Slobodan] Milosevic is no longer there. Belgrade media or their official politics will not say a single word that they committed or helped those in Bosnia and Herzegovina commit so many crimes, the biggest crimes since the Second World War. We in Kosovo are sorry that BiH suffered so much, but an even worse scenario was in store for us had the world not stepped in. And now they have replaced that idea, that all Serbs are in one state, with the ‘Serbian world’, thus imitating the ‘Russian world’,” Vlasi said.

He added that only the Serbian state leadership and political establishment have “those stupid ideas about ethnically pure states” and that “they think that only they have that right”.
