European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen will visit Bosnia and Herzegovina on October 24 and 25, 2024, as part of her four-day tour of the Western Balkans, which includes stops in Albania, North Macedonia, Serbia, Kosovo, and Montenegro. The visit aims to discuss the region's progress on the path to EU integration and highlight the EU’s €6 billion Growth Plan for the Western Balkans.
Upon her arrival in Sarajevo on Thursday, October 24, President von der Leyen will be greeted at the airport by Bosnia's Foreign Minister, Elmedin Konakovic. Following this, she will travel to Donja Jablanica to show support for the communities recently devastated by severe floods and landslides.
In Donja Jablanica, von der Leyen will be joined by the Council of Ministers Chair, Borjana Kristo, Herzegovina-Neretva Canton Prime Minister Marija Buhac, and other key regional officials, including the Minister of Trade, Tourism and Environmental Protection and Head of International Operations for the Canton, Emil Balavac, along with the mayors of Jablanica, Konjic, Kresevo, Fojnica, and Kiseljak, as well as representatives involved in the rescue and recovery efforts.
On Friday, October 25, von der Leyen will hold discussions with members of the BiH Presidency, followed by a meeting with Borjana Kristo, the EU Delegation to Bosnia and Herzegovina confirmed.
