Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic announced a meeting of "state bodies" of the Republika Srpska (RS) entity and Serbia after the meeting with RS President Milorad Dodik.
In his address, Vucic wrote that with Dodik, he discussed the situation in the region and the upcoming important meetings of the delegations of the Republic of Serbia and the RS.
“I listened carefully to President Dodik regarding all the events in the RS and Bosnia and Herzegovina, and we agreed to organize a meeting of all state bodies of Serbia and the RS, on the territory of the RS, as soon as possible,” Vucic wrote on his Facebook page.
BiH Foreign Minister Elmedin Konakovic promptly responded by saying:
“Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, there are no state bodies of the Republika Srpska. The RS is an entity in the sovereign state of BiH. Every visit you make to that part of our homeland is a visit to the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina. As the president of Serbia, who has repeatedly said that he respects the territorial integrity and sovereignty of BiH in public addresses, you should call things by their right names.”
“After your associates call for scholarships for female students who glorify war criminals and committed crimes, after your associates’ announcement that they will build a monument to [Nazi collaborator] Dragoljub Draza Mihajlovic, unintentional messages like these set us back, we are not moving towards regional stability and mutual respect. Our outstretched hand is a sign of our strength and our desire for things to go towards stabilizing relations, it is by no means a sign of our weakness,” Konakovic added.
