Serbia's Prosecutor's Office for War Crimes issued an indictment against Edin Vranj, a Bosnian national, and asked the Belgrade Higher Court to hand over the case to the Bosnian authorities in charge of war crime processing, Serbian President's Cabinet said on Thursday.

Vranj is a former senior official of the Police Administration in Bosnia's Federation entity, whom Serbian authorities charge with alleged war crimes in the eastern Bosnia during the 1992-95 war. He was apprehended last month at the Bosnian-Serbian border and ordered into detention.

The office of President Aleksandar Vucic said the President met today with Interior Minister Aleksandar Vulin, Justice Ministry Secretary Bojan Scepanovic, Public State Attorney Zagorka Dolovac and War Crime Prosecutor Snezana Stanojkovic to discuss the cooperation with the judicial bodies of Bosnia and Herzegovina, particularly in the war crime processing in line with the agreement on cooperation between the two countries.

They agreed it was necessary to strengthen the regional cooperation between prosecutor's offices and war crime prosecutors, within which the specialised departments of these institutions can establish a successful cooperation.

The president's office announced a meeting for October 15 in which the judicial authorities of the two countries would discuss further steps in organising the prosecutorial conference in near future.
