The route passes through Metkovic, Capljina and Mostar, using modern Talgo trains operated by the Railways of the Federation of BiH. The service will run until 21 June 2026, followed by a seasonal service from 26 June to 31 August.
Croatian Railways (HŽ) Passenger Transport CEO Zeljko Ukic said the main aim was to connect students from the Neretva Valley with the University of Mostar. He noted that the schedule was adjusted accordingly, with Sunday departures from Ploce and Friday evening returns, as well as additional weekend services.
He said the lines had been well received and could help revitalise rail transport on this section, thanking Dubrovnik-Neretva County Prefect Blaz Pezo and the mayors of Ploc and Metkovic for their support.
Ukic added that, under government measures, children, pupils, students, pensioners and people over 65 will travel free within Croatia, while fares will apply for travel within Bosnia and Herzegovina.
