Over the last three days, the Cantonal Hospital in Zenica has reached capacity with all 150 beds to which there is an oxygen supply for Covid-19 patients, Kasim Spahic, the assistant director of this hospital told Fena news agency Tuesday.
He pointed out that the situation is very difficult and that they currently have 140 patients requiring oxygen support, but they expect around 10 new admissions during the day when all capacities will be filled again.
The director of the Zenica Hospital, Rasim Skomorac, said that, for now, they can manage to provide oxygen support to all patients who need it.
“Before the pandemic, we consumed 300 litres of oxygen a day, and now the daily consumption is around 4,000 litters. The situation with the supply of oxygen is the same in all hospitals treating Covid-19 patients, so a supply problem can occur at any time. The question is whether the supplier can deliver the required quantities, due to high demand. I hope that the supply will be the same as before,” says Skomorac.
Zenica Hospital, he recalled, has reserved 260 patient beds for Covid-positive patients, but their human and technical capacities cannot handle that many patients.
