Miners of the Zenica brown coal mine subsidiary (ZDRMUZ) went on strike this morning and did not go down into the pits, the president of the coal miners’ trade union, Elvedin Avdic told Fena news agency on Tuesday. 

“The workers didn’t receive their October salary or a hot meal for September. The salary is paid by the 15th of the month, but we haven't received the salaries yet, so the miners of the first shift did not go down to the pits this morning,” says Avdic.

The Zenica mine, he added, employs around 930 workers, and coal is produced in the “Raspotocje” and “Stara jama” pit plants.
