Dedovic emphasized that the community has lived with deep wounds and trauma for 33 years due to the brutality of the massacre, during which 34 innocent people — men, women, children, and the elderly — were killed. He described the massacre as a premeditated act of violence fueled by an extremist ideology and warned that the evil behind it still lingers in society.
The establishment of a special cemetery for the victims aims to preserve the memory of those who lived in Zulja and to serve as a lasting reminder of the atrocities committed. Dedovic noted the importance of maintaining such memorials to confront and prevent future violence, underscoring the need to remember the names and lives of those who perished.
