At the upcoming Paralympic Games, taking place from August 28 to September 8 in Paris, Bosnia and Herzegovina will be represented by 14 athletes competing in three sports: sitting volleyball, athletics, and swimming.
The Bosnian team includes sitting volleyball players Sabahudin Delalić (captain), Safet Alibašić, Ismet Godinjak, Nizam Čančar, Mirzet Duran, Dževad Hamzić, Asim Medić, Adnan Manko, Adnan Kešmer, Benis Kadrić, Ermin Jusufović, and Armin Šehić; athlete Dževad Pandžić; and 13-year-old swimmer Ismail Barlov.
The Bosnian sitting volleyball team, the most successful in the country's Paralympic history, will be competing for the seventh time. They have returned from every Paralympic Games with a medal, including two golds (Athens 2004, London 2012), three silvers (Sydney 2000, Beijing 2008, Rio de Janeiro 2016), and a bronze at the Tokyo 2020 Games. The team has also secured three world titles and 11 European championships.
In the Paris 2024 sitting volleyball tournament, eight men's and eight women's teams will compete. The men's tournament will feature Bosnia and Herzegovina, France, the 2020 Tokyo gold medalist Iran, Brazil, Egypt, Germany, Kazakhstan, and Ukraine. The women's tournament will include France, the USA, China, Brazil, Canada, Italy, Rwanda, and Slovenia.
A total of 549 medals across 22 disciplines will be awarded at the Paris Paralympics, with 4,400 athletes from around the world competing. To date, Bosnian Paralympians have won six medals: two golds, three silvers, and one bronze.
