Adem Zolj has been appointed new Prime Minister of the Sarajevo Canton (SC). His appointment was backed by 19 votes.
The Sarajevo Canton Assembly cast no-confidence vote in the Government on March 19th and dismissed now former Prime Minister Elmedin Konakovic.
Konakovic left the Party of Democratic Action (SDA) after internal conflict within this party, which emerged due to disagreements over appointments in certain public companies. He formed a new political party ‘People and justice’ (‘Narod I pravda’) that was joined by several SDA municipal councillors and city delegates.
Adem Zolj previously acted as Director of the Sarajevo Canton Directorate for Roads and one of executive directors at the Motorways of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH). 19 delegates of the SC Assembly voted for Zolj's appointment, 10 were against it and one abstained from vote.
