Bosnia’s Islamic Community (IC) warned authorities that the country is facing a serious migrant crisis.
“Taking into account the increasingly difficult situation regarding the inflow of migrants into Bosnia and Herzegovina, especially in the capital and the Krajina municipalities, the Islamic Community in Bosnia once again appeals to all state actors to understand that, according to all data, we are facing a serious migrant crisis,” an IC release reads.
The issue was raised by the IC at a meeting with municipal authorities in Sarajevo and representatives of local NGO’s.
It is necessary to activate action plans and coordination bodies that were formed to tackle such situations, the IC wrote, appealing to all government levels to get involved in finding necessary solutions.
The IC said it is “ready to provide help within the scope of its possibilities,” but that it still insists on systematic solutions.
“The conditions under which refugees and migrants now live in the city's public areas and all that happens there, and the efforts to misuse their suffering, are unacceptable and the relevant authorities must find adequate solutions,” the IC wrote.
