Bosnian actress Zana Marjanovic played the role of Edith Stein in a film titled "A Rose In Winter" which was shown at the Cannes Film Festival. On that occasion she spoke to N1, describing her engagement in the film.

“Seven years ago, I received an audition invitation from Joshua Sinclair who wrote the script and directed the film. He came to Sarajevo, sat in my father’s cafe, met my parents and then I asked my self: ‘My God, is this my audition?’,” Marjanovic said. “Starring in this film, I realised that films like these aren't made any more. Historic films are too expensive.”

Talking about her role she said:

I played the role of Edith Stein who was a controversial person herself because she worked on the reconciliation between the Jews and the Christians all her life. The film is about Edith Stein up until the moment when the train she was in enters Auschwitz and the message of the film is reconciliation, which is what she did all her life.”

Marjanovic told N1 that her mentor was Angelina Jolie and that the time she spent with her was a turning point in her life.

Marjanovic starred in the film titled “In the Land of Blood and Honey,” directed by Jolie.
