A mass grave was found in the Trnovo Municipality, central Bosnia and Herzegovina, from which burial remains of at least five victims were exhumed. The victims are most probably Bosniaks, killed during the previous war in Bosnia (1992-1995).
The Missing Persons Institute of Bosnia and Herzegovina said it is a secondary mass grave, meaning the remains were moved from the primary to the secondary location.
The perpetrators used natural sinkholes in the area of Rogoj, Trnovo Municipality, to hide the remains. The sinkholes are four metres deep. Some remains were warped in nylon bags.
After exhumation, the remains were transported to the Autopsy and Identification Centre in Gorazde where forensic and criminal-technical processing will be performed and bone samples taken for DNA analysis.
The exhumation was performed by the order of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
