Covic: Bosniaks are trying to take over all of Bosnia

Croat member of Bosnia’s tripartite Presidency Dragan Covic said the Bosniak political establishment wants to, in the long run, take control over the entire country.

While Bosniaks cannot significantly impact politics in Bosnia’s Serb-dominated part, the semi-autonomous Republika Srpska (RS) entity, they can indirectly influence the vote for the Serb member of the state Presidency and define who will represent the Serbs in the other entity, the Bosniak-Croat Federation (FBiH), Covic said.
"However, the basic idea is to completely take control over FBiH and when they manage to do that (…) the next phase comes, when they will, but with a different political approach and probably with new people, extend this influence throughout the entire territory of Bosnia, including Republika Srpska," Covic told the local Vecernji List newspaper.
Covic said that RS President Milorad Dodik, who is running for the post of the Serb Presidency member at the state level in the upcoming October general election, currently has strong support in the entity he presides over.
"Some independent candidates will pop up, but the Serb people, I am sure, will decide and elect whoever is suited to represent them best. It would be unfair for me to say who it will be (…) although I see who that is very clearly," Covic said.
He also expressed certainty that he will be reelected to represent Croats in the state Presidency.
