Friar Josic: Bosnia's multi-religiousness is its fortune
Calls to prayer from mosques or church bells in Bosnia and Herzegovina should not and must not bother an ordinary and wise person, said friar Niko Josic, parish priest of the Franciscan monastery in Dubrave near the northern Bosnian town of Brcko.

Josic’s statement came amid the reactions triggered by a statement of Republika Srpska (RS) entity President Milorad Dodik, who said the call to prayer from mosques across Bosnia were disturbing.
The Franciscan servant deems the politicians will be using such statements in this pre-election period to win the votes among their ethnic groups.
“And they will even reach out to something that no rational person can imagine let alone use for their political purposes,” said Josic, adding that the words calling for hate for another and different are not typical for this region.

According to him, “our homeland Bosnia and Herzegovina is multi-ethnic, multi-religious” and not having respect for that will not lead to a just future and coexistence.
He condemned every shape of the hate speech and every kind of intolerance in the country. Its multi-ethnicity and multi-religiousness is its fortune and not a reason to hate each other, Josic concluded.
