Senior judicial officials receive death threats

Vice President of the High Judicial and Prosecutor Council (HJPC) of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Bosnia’s Court President, Jadranka Lokmic-Misiraca and Ranko Debevec, received death threats on July 21, the news agencies reported.

The senior judicial officials reported the death threats to the police agencies, which launched the activities foreseen by the law to discover the perpetrators and shed light on the circumstances of the case.

“The High Judicial and Protectorial Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina harshly condemns every kind of pressure on the independence of the judiciary, especially the threats related to jeopardizing of security and lives of the judicial officials, which have become often recently, the HJPC said, urging the competent institutions to investigate the case.

Debevec was appointed the President of the Court on December 14, 2016, after serving as a judge of the court for four years. Lokmic-Misiraca assumed the office of the HJPC Vice President in summer 2013 and reappointed in October 2016.
