Diver Lorens Listo is once again the winner of the 452nd annual Mostar Bridge-diving contest. With this triumph, Listo achieved his 12th victory, bringing him one step closer to the best bridge-diver ever, Emir Balic who has 13 victories.
Listo won in a discipline called “Mostar swallow,” where divers jump head first, with the aim of making the biggest splash with their hands and chest when touching the Neretva river.
Igor Kazic won first place in the discipline of diving feet-first, winning 100 points for his jump.
The bridge-diving tradition reaches back to the 16th century when the bridge was in the construction phase and when the then community of only 4,000 citizens had only a handful of people who knew how to swim. The first dive was recorded in 1664, while the formal competition was established in 1968, and it has been taking place every summer ever since.
