There is no consensus on the full NATO membership in Bosnia and Herzegovina but the partnership with the alliance enjoys the full support of all structures of authorities, Foreign Minister Igor Crnadak said Thursday during a meeting with the newly appointed NATO Headquarters Sarajevo Commander Marty J. Bissell.
Crnadak informed Bissell that Bosnia's priority foreign policy goals are the European Union membership and development of the regional cooperation, the Foreign Ministry said.
He also said that the country actively participated in joint activities as a partner country, and mentioned as priorities the role in the mission in Afghanistan, in the global coalition for the fight against the Islamic State.
Bosnia and Herzegovina remains committed to the global fight against terrorism, said the minister, adding that a support to the continuation of reforms in Bosnia with special emphasis on the fight against corruption and establishing of the rule of law is a necessity.
The officials discussed the cooperation and relations between Bosnia and the alliance as well as the current political situation in the country and the region.
Bissell succeeded Brigadier General Robert Huston, who relinquished his command of the NATO Headquarters Sarajevo on July 9.
