Leon Lucev: It’s hard for people to watch films about truth

The Best Actor of the 24th Sarajevo Film Festival, Leon Lucev, told N1 that he absolutely deserved the Heart of Sarajevo prize because his film crew was wonderful, and the role he played in the film “Burden” (“Teret”) was his most difficult role yet.

“This was the most difficult film I worked on. It was the most difficult burden I transferred to the silver screen. We were exhausted, we slept between the scenes and we worked very hard to make this film, which is why I hope many people will see it,” Lucev said. “I deserved this prize, I gave my 150 percent.”

“We created a wonderful film with a young crew made up of film enthusiasts,” said Lucev who plaid the main character ‘Ognjen Glavonic’ in the film “Burden.”

He noted that people today are having a difficult time seeing films about the truth.

“The easiest thing to do is to spend hours in front of the TV, where there is no truth. The truth is hard to watch, as is this film, but the truth liberates. I call this film a Balkan family film, based on a father and his son, it’s based on the responsibility which the father takes because there’s a whole generation raised by their mothers alone,” he added.

The 24th SFF ended Thursday night with the official award ceremony which took place at the National Theatre in Sarajevo.
