Bosnia’s Interior Minister Dragan Mektic said, Friday, that the state Migration Operations Staff accepted the offer of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH) entity’s Police Administration to assist the Border Police in protecting the country’s border against illegal migrants entering the country. He added he did not know whether they will be deployed, but in case they are, they will assist the Border Police.

This implies police officers from the FBiH will be deployed along the border with Serbia, from where the vast majority of migrants are entering the country. The border with Serbia is on the territory of the RS.

During the Friday press conference, Mektic said the FBiH police officers "will have nothing to do with the RS MoI’s competencies, which will not be diminished by their presence," Mektic said.

In his open letter, Lukac said that "all Mektic's attempts to deploy some other police forces to the territory of the RS are predestined to failure because they are neither in line with the RS Constitution and laws, nor with the signed agreement between the RS MoI and other police agencies in Bosnia."

Lukac also stated that the RS MoI signed an Agreement on Provision of Assistance to the Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina according to which they already deployed 80 members of the RS MoI to assist the Border Police.
