Focusing on the programme issues and solutions that go along with the process of Bosnia and Herzegovina's accession to the European Union (EU) is a priority, Croat member of Bosnia's tripartite Presidency Dragan Covic said Friday during the meeting with UK Ambassador Matthew Field.
In that sense, it is necessary for the institutions at all levels of authority to continue the undisturbed implementation of reform with a special emphasis on those related to Bosnia's European road, Covic added.
Bosnia's Presidency member also pointed out the importance of protecting the principle of legitimate representation of Bosnia's constituent peoples at all levels of authority regardless of the fact that electoral reform in the country has not been carried out.
“The degree of respect for those principles will, in essence, predetermine the degree of efficiency and success of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the implementation of its accession obligations within the Euro-Atlantic integration,” said Covic.
As for Bosnia's integration into the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), the Presidency member assessed it was necessary to intensify all activities in order to have the NATO Membership Action Plan activated immediately after the Bosnia's October election.
Ambassador Field reiterated that the UK's referendum decision to leave the EU will not affect the relations with Bosnia and Herzegovina, and he stressed the support from London to accelerated Bosnia's road towards the EU and the NATO will be even more significant in the future.
