The next census of the population of Bosnia and Herzegovina will be held in 2021, said the acting Director of the Republika Srpska entity Institute of Statistics Jasmin Komic.

One of the major activities that the Institute has to undertake is also the agricultural census which should take place in 2020 or in 2021, the exact date is yet to be set, but preparations are underway.

The acting Director added that one of the activities that the Statistical Institute has yet to undertake is the establishment of a sample framework within the preparations for a household survey based research, that needs to be done in the next three years.

He added that the research conducted by the RS Statistical Institute are completely in line with European standards and the Institute plans to undergo a transformation into a statistics institute which would also deal with analyzes and projections.

“The goal is to introduce new types of research, such as human development research, global competitiveness index, foreign migrations and the introduction of population registers,” Komic said.
