Zeljka Cvijanovic from the Republika Srpska (RS) entity, won the most votes in the race for the RS President. This also makes her the woman with the most votes in the country.

Cvijanovic, who currently serves as the RS Prime Minister, was the candidate of the nationalist Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD) in the general election in Bosnia and Herzegovina, held October 7.

She won 303,857 votes, or 47.55 percent compared to other candidates. This result makes her the woman who won the most votes in the country for any position.

In 2014, the newly elected RS President was SNSD’s candidate for Bosnia’s tripartite Presidency when she ran for the Serb member seat. That time she won 310,867 votes, but was placed second to the candidate of the central-right Party of Democratic Progress, Mladen Ivanic, who won 317,799 votes.

Bosnia’s Presidency consists of three members, each coming from one three constituent peoples – Bosniaks, Croats and Serbs.
