Serbia’s Bosniak National Council (BNC) visited Bosnia’s outgoing Presidency Chairman Bakir Izetbegovic and the newly elected Bosniak Presidency member Sefik Dzaferovic, on Thursday, to talk about the position of Bosniaks in Serbia.
Head of the BNC Sulejman Ugljanin informed the hosts of the recently held election for the Bosniak National Council and the general position of Bosniaks in Serbia and its the Sandzak region.
Apart from Ugljanin, the Bosniak delegation consisted Head of the Tutin municipality Kenan Hot, Head of the Sjenica municipality Hazbo Mujovic and the BNC Secretary Mirza Hajdinovic.
Interlocutors concluded that the Sandzak Bosniaks are dissatisfied with the level of guaranteed rights they can achieve in Serbia.
They discussed the bad economic position and the lack of investments in Sandzak as well as the visible national dissemblance in Serbia’s state institutions, judiciary, police and educational institutions where Bosniaks are under-represented.
Izetbegovic and Dzaferovic called on the Sandzak Bosniaks to achieve a great level of political unity and to fight for their rights through the BNC.
They added that Bosnia’s Bosniak Presidency member would continue to support Bosniaks from Serbia in fighting for the position of Bosniaks in Sandzak and the rest of Serbia.
