Following the October election, Bosnia’s governments need to be formed as soon as possible based on policies that will affect ordinary people, Bosnia’s top international official said in London during Thursdays consultations with the United Kingdom’s Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO).
High Representative Valentin Inzko met with Deputy Political Director Jill Gallard and Head of the Western Balkans Department Andrew Page as well as Baroness Arminka Helic, from the House of Lords.
“Following the elections, governments need to be formed as quickly as possible and on the basis of agreements on concrete policy priorities that will affect ordinary people,” Inzko said, adding that “improved education, job creation, more serious anti-corruption efforts and improved public services are areas where people expect to see change.”
The High Representative is appointed by the international community to monitor the civilian implementation of the Dayton Peace Agreement, which ended the 1992-1995 war in Bosnia.
Inzko used the opportunity to thank the United Kingdom for its “continuous and unwavering support” to Bosnia’s stability and the country’s efforts to join the EU and NATO.
