Zvizdic hopes Bosnia will get EU candidate status during Romania's EU Presidency

Head of Bosnia's Government congratulated Romania on taking over the European Union (EU) Presidency for the first six months of 2019, expressing hope that Romania's chairmanship will further strengthen European perspective of the Western Balkans.

Denis Zvizdic, Chairman of Bosnia's Council of Ministers, thanked for the political and technical support that Romania has been providing with an aim to speed up European path of the region.

“I congratulate you on taking over the European Union Presidency. Given our strong commitment to EU integration as well as the progress we have achieved, we expect Bosnia and Herzegovina will obtain the EU candidate status during your term, which would open new positive perspectives of stability, economic development and the rule of law,” Zvizdic said in his note to Prime Minister of Romania, Viorica Dancila.

Zvizdic hopes Romania will keep the Western Balkans on European agenda.

“Knowing the continuity of your work, effort and commitment to the region's European integration, I am certain that your chairmanship will further enhance the European perspective of the entire Western Balkans, in which you will have our full support,” he added.

Romania took over the six-month rotating Presidency of the EU on January 1, 2019.
