Renown actor warns ex-President of 'grumpy aunty' at employment office

As someone who used to be registered as unemployed, regionally renown actor Enis Beslagic told N1 that he would not recommend former Presidency member Bakir Izetbegovic to register with the employment bureau as the Bosniak leader announced he would do before the October 2018 General Election.

Izetbegovic, the leader of the main Bosniak ethnic-oriented political party in the country, the Party for Democratic Action (SDA), could not run for another mandate in Bosnia's tripartite Presidency as he already served the post twice in a row. Following the election, another top official from his party, Sefik Dzaferovic, took over the position.

In an interview with N1 before the election, Izetbegovic spoke about how more than 70,000 new jobs were created during his mandate, mostly in the private sector. He said that he is not a very wealthy person and that after elections he will be “unemployed and registered at the employment bureau.”

Actor Beslagic said he would not recommend that, speaking about his own experiences with the employment bureau.

He said that when he was offered a role in a show in Slovenia several years ago, he had to quit his job and register at the office without knowing if the new show will take off.

“Two months went by, and they called me from Sarajevo to say that some aunty at the office took me off the list because she found out that I am shooting this series. I said at the time that I need to be registered, as the payments I was receiving from the shooting I needed for my pension and healthcare contributions, as I am not registered as working anywhere,” Beslagic said.

“I wouldn't advise Bakir (Izetbegovic) to register at the employment bureau as they could take him off the list. There is a grumpy aunty working there,” he said.
