Dozens of migrants were injured, three severely, in a mass physical clash that took place Friday evening in a shelter situated in the northwestern Bosnian town of Bihac.

Police detained 11 persons of which three were nationals of Afghanistan, three from India and one from Pakistan, according to Ale Siljdedic, the Spokesperson for the Una-Sana Canton Ministry of Interior, which covers the area of Bihac.

The incident was reported to the police at about 9 p.m.

“The police took to the site immediately as well as the Support Unit, and put the situation under control,” said the spokesperson.

Some 300 migrants who are accommodated in BIRA factory facilities, one of three shelters in this north-western Bosnian region, took part in the clash. Over 30 were summoned to a police precinct for interrogation and recording the incident.

The detained migrants are suspected of taking part in a mass physical fight and inflicting severe injuries.

Thousands of migrants became stranded in the northwest of Bosnia as they were unable to cross the border with Croatia and go further to their final destinations in western Europe. After the months spent in the open and improvised tent camps, the migrants were in the beg
