The International Democratic Union has unanimously adopted a Resolution on Bosnia during a conference in Chile urging Bosnian authorities to change the State Election Law and condemns pressures on citizens, and opposition parties, said the Party of Democratic Progress (PDP) who proposed it.
“The International Democratic Union condemns the pressures and blackmails against Bosnian citizens during the October election campaign as well as biased and unprofessional reporting of public broadcasters, attacks on citizens and opposition parties, and bans of public gatherings and expression of thought,” the PDP said.
The Resolution states that changes to the Election Law must ensure fair and transparent elections, and urges for the State authorities to create conditions for unbiased and efficient work of the judiciary, calling upon all parties to work on resolving the country's economic issues and improvement of living conditions for Bosnia's citizens.
The PDP leader Branislav Borenovic said more than 70 parties from across the world voted for this Resolution, including the US’ Republican Party, Germany's Christian Democratic Union and the British Conservative Party.
During his stay in Chile, Borenovic met, among others, with the head of the International Democratic Union, Steven Harper, with whom he discussed the future cooperation.
