The 10th Sarajevo Business (SBF) investment conference began in Sarajevo, on Wednesday, bringing together the political and business elite from across the world, Edita Hasecic from the SBF organisation board told N1.

Last year the Forum gathered 1,800 participants, and this year they hope to bring over 2,000 guests.

“The SBF gathers many political and economic leaders from arccos the world and today we'll hear from leaders like the Slovenian President Borut Pahor and the Turkish Vice President, as well as leaders from many other countries,” Hasecic said.

She noted that Malaysia sent the biggest delegation yet and that they are interested in the fields of infrastructure, energy, pharmaceuticals and food production.

“They've already met with people from Bosnia, representing these fields and Malaysia as a huge market, especially for the halal industry, offer great opportunities for our entrepreneurs.”

The SBF will also focus on the region. She argues that only a united region can be competitive in the world market.

“We need to connect the region, and that's why we focused on ‘one region – one economy’. Considering the regional potential, I'm sure they could be used better if we unite,” Hasecic concluded.
