A European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) summit that will take place in Bosnia in May will produce “many important decisions” and will include the signing of an agreement worth hundreds of millions of Euros, the Minister for Foreign Trade and Economic Affairs told N1 on Tuesday.

The summit will take place between May 7 and May 9.

Minister Mirko Sarovic said that Bosnia is expected to sign a contract with the EBRD worth 220 million Euros for the construction of several sections of a highway called the 5C Corridor – a European route that connects Budapest with the Adriatic Sea.

“We increased the excise taxes so that Bosnia and Herzegovina can be more eligible for loans so that the country has better preconditions for asking for better loans,” he said.

He also spoke about the recent summit of 16 Central and Eastern European countries with China which took place in Dubrovnik, saying that Bosnia did all it could to ensure that it begins exporting food to China and that now it is all up to Chinese authorities.

“We have a basic agreement. We agreed on many things regarding the products which have a chance of showing up on China’s demanding market,” he said, adding that China’s delegation promised that they would issue the permits for importing Bosnian products as soon as possible.
