Dodik's call for war uniforms sparks reaction of other two Presidency members

Two Bosnia Presidency members Sefik Dzaferovic and Zeljko Komsic promptly reacted over the statement that their third colleague in the collective head of state Milorad Dodik delivered in the ceremony marking the Day of the Third Infantry Regiment in the northwestern city of Banja Luka on Sunday.

Speaking at the event, Dodik urged the members of the Regiment, which is formally part of Bosnia’s Armed Forces, to wear the wartime uniforms in the next year’s ceremony because, as he said, it was their day.

He also said the abolition of the Army of Republika Srpska, one of two Bosnia’s semi-autonomous entities, was a mistake.

“In any case, that’s a very dangerous statement. Mr Dodik should take care of what he’s saying because he will harm the most the entity he represents but will also harm himself. What he said today is a severe act of crime,” said Dzaferovic, commenting on words of the Bosnian Serb leader who represents the Serb-dominated Republika Srpska entity in the state institutions.

“The Armed Forces will survive, only Dodik may end up in prison,” said Dzaferovic, the Bosniak Presidency member.

Croat Presidency member, Zeljko Komsic, announced criminal charges against Dodik for, as he said, causing a rebellion in the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

He recalled that he filed criminal charges against Dodik several years ago for similar reasons but the judiciary rejected it.

“Unfortunately, I expect the same reaction of the judiciary – it means, nothing. On the other hand, I hope it is clear now to some in Sarajevo, who claimed it was not so important, how important it is for this country to become a NATO member state sooner or later,” added Komsic.
