UNESCO-protected Old Bridge in Mostar shone on Thursday evening in colours of the Srebrenica flower, in memory of the 1995 genocide victims of Srebrenica.

Mostar-based Centre for Peace and Multi-ethnic Cooperation sponsored the event while its representatives emphasised the need to find all the persons who went missing in the 1992-95 Bosnian war.

“It is true, they didn't go missing, they were killed. We rightly ask where they are. Over 7,000 persons in Bosnia and Herzegovina are still missing, of which 635 in Herzegovina and 189 in Mostar. We must endure and fight to find every last one who was killed,” said Safet Orucevic, former Mostar Mayor and the Centre leader.

Mostarians symbolically commemorated the Srebrenica victims earlier on Thursday, the day when 33 more genocide victims were laid to rest along with 6,610 previously buried at the Potocari Memorial Centre, eastern Bosnia.

They threw lilies symbolising innocent victims down the Neretva river, which was followed by a jump from the Old Bridge by a local diver Igor Kazic.
