The vast majority of those who contracted measles, 789, were not vaccinated, while in 25 cases, those affected were not completely vaccinated. Only eight fully vaccinated people contracted the virus.

However, the KS Government also said that a significant rise in MRP vaccinations was also recorded between January and May.

KS health authorities have conducted reform activities to stop the unacceptable level of vaccinations of pre-school children in the Canton.

According to the KS Public Health Institute, 94 percent of children between 12 and 24 months old received the MRP 1 vaccine, and 91,3 percent of children aged between five and six years received the MRP 2 vaccine throughout the first five months of the year.

In 2017, the percentage of children who received the MRP 1 vaccine stood at 40,1 percent, while the percentage for the MRP 2 vaccine was 56 percent.

Health authorities said that an epidemic breaking out was expected considering that low percentage.
