August 2019 will be a record month in terms of the number of guests and it will exceed last year's number of some 75,000 tourists visited Sarajevo, Sarajevo Canton Tourist Board President Nermin Muzur said, Sunday.

He said that around 90 percent of all capacities are full and that they expect most tourists in August when the Sarajevo Film Festival (SFF) is held. This is when Sarajevo's capacities could even get exceeded.

“This year's SFF has more than 30 percent more participants, and the arrival of world star DJ Solomun has sparked great interest,” Muzur said, adding that the Women's Champions League Qualifying Tournament will be held in August as well, which is an excellent promotion of Sarajevo's tourist capacities.

He noted that before the start of each summer season, they talk to embassy representatives about the experiences of their tourists in Sarajevo to act preventively. According to their information, apart from ‘pickpockets,’ minor inconveniences in public transport or beggars, with which big world capitals are struggling as well, they have had no major problems.

One of the problems the Board predicts Sarajevo could face soon is the lack of tourist capacity, whose number is greater every year, and Muzur warned that Sarajevo must start building more capacities and accompanying tourist content.
