All four WWII-era aerial bombs discovered in Sarajevo throughout the past few days have successfully been destroyed on Bjelasnica mountain near the capital.
Sead Vrana, from the Civil Protection Agency of Bosnia’s Federation (FBiH) entity, said that the bombs were destroyed using a method that produces a low reaction – by shooting a magnesium projectile into the bomb so that all the explosive material burns up without a strong explosion.
Head of the FBiH Civil Protection Agency Fahrudin Solak said that his officers were sent to secure the wider area “so that we can react if anybody enters the area uninvited.”
The four bombs were discovered at a construction site in Sarajevo – the first one on September 5, the second one a day later, the third one on September 10 and another one was discovered on Wednesday.
