After only three ministers showed up at the Bosnian government session, prime minister Denis Zvizdic said he received written excuses from six ministers on reasons for their absence.
“I won't speculate on the reasons and facts why six ministers from the Council of Ministers didn't attend today's session,” Zvizdic said, adding that he did receive written excuses for the absence of six ministers.
I mist say I'm sorry that we didn't hold today's session because it had several important agenda items like the decision on the temporary financing of Bosnian institutions,” Zvizdic noted.
After the October 2018 general election, Bosnian politicians have been in a deadlock when it comes to talks on the formation of the government.
One of the main reasons for this is the fact that the Serb-dominated entity of Republika Srpska is against Bosnia's NATO accession and deepening of the country's cooperation with the Alliance.
Their opposition is supported by Croat parties who are objecting the election of the Croat Presidency member coming from a centre-left party – the Democratic Frond (DF), arguing he is not a legitimate representative of the Croat people because he was allegedly elected by Bosniak votes.
Since then, Bosnia's three main ethnic-oriented parties, the Bosniak Democratic Action Party (SDA), Serb Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD), and the Croat Democratic Union (HDZ BiH) have been in a power struggle which prevents them from forming the government in the country.
The parliament session was supposed to discuss Bosnia's Security Ministry's report on the migration situation in the country, Draft Agreement on assistance and operational cooperation in controlling the border, draft decision on the ratification of the protocol on determining the tripoint between Bosnia, Montenegro and Serbia.
Ministers were also supposed to discuss the report on the work of the NATO Integration Process Commission for the period December 1, 2018 – July 1, 2019, and information on the annual training and exercises plan for members and units of Bosnia's Armed Forces abroad, for 2020.
