By taking control over air traffic in the entire airspace of Bosnia and Herzegovina which will be held Wednesday night, the Bosnian Air Navigation Services Agency (BHANSA) will open a new chapter in the history of the country's civil aviation, Fena news agency reported on Wednesday.

This event will fully realize the Phase II of the Strategy for the Development of the Air Traffic Management System in the country (ATM Strategy), which means that Bosnian skies will no longer be controlled from its neighbouring countries.

“This is a big day for Bosnia as a country, because in a relatively short period of time, and as the youngest European air navigation agency, we created the technical, staffing and all other prerequisites to fully control the air traffic above the territory of our country,” BHANSA director Davorin Primorac said on this occasion.

Primorac stated that BHANSA currently provides services for flights flying under the hight of 10,000 meters.

“Only 20 percent of the total air traffic takes place in that part of our air space, ie only 200 planes fly there,” Primorac said, adding that as of tomorrow (Thursday), Bosnia will control up to 1,600 flights through Bosnian skies.
