Special police unit unblocked the Uborak landfill near the southern city of Mostar on Monday morning, despite the strong opposition of locals who want the landfill be completely relocated elsewhere due to, as the said, hazardous waste being disposed there.
The locals have been protesting for several days, blocking the access to the site but eventually the police broke down their resistance.
The waste disposal issue has been present in Mostar since summer this year when the citizens first raised the issue and asked the local authorities to solve the problem.
