Sarajevo University Clinical Centre is prepared for the first potential wave of coronavirus, hospital general manager Sebija Izetbegovic told N1, adding that the management equipped its facilities with over 60 respirators and is working on getting some more.

“We are prepared for the first wave. Respirators are used only on those with the most severe clinical conditions. Not all those infected with coronavirus have a need for mechanical ventilation,” Clinical Centre general manager said.

Izetbegovic also confirmed that no COVID-19 case has been recorded in the Sarajevo Canton so far and that two most recently reported patients have tested negative for the virus.

“A woman from Zepce (a central town) is being tested and the test results will be made public,” she added.

So far, the healthcare authorities confirmed 18 cases in Bosnia, 15 in Republika Srpska region, and three more in the Federation, the other semi-autonomous part.
