Bosnia's Border Police said on Monday it expects a fresh migrant wave on spring, based on the information from relevant international organisations.

“As is the case every year, with the improvement of weather conditions comes the high migrant risk population,” Border Police spokesperson Franka Vican said.

She noted that the Border Police lacks 400 officers for regular duties and border oversight and up to 1,200 police officers for a proper response to the migrant crisis issue, especially on the eastern border where the migrant pressure is the greatest.

According to them, 1,967 migrants tried to enter the country illegally from January 1 to March 15, but they were prevented in doing so.
