Edin Dzeko, one of Bosnia's best footballers who is currently playing AS Roma, congratulated the Day of Sarajevo, April 6, via his Facebook profile.

“I miss you, my city, now more than ever. I miss my parents, I miss my friends, I miss your streets. The day will come when all of this will have been yesterday and I can't wait to see you again, to breathe you in while you hold me in your arms,” Dzeko wrote, adding “I love you my city, and wish you a happy day dedicated to you.”

Sarajevo city authorities mark April 6 as the Day of Sarajevo od the Day of Liberation of Sarajevo. On this date, in 1941 Sarajevo was first bombarded by the Wermacht. In 1945, the Yugoslav partisans liberated the city from the nazis and in 1992 the occupation of Sarajevo began which lasted for 44 months.
