Several hundreds of believers gathered on Sunday for a holy mass in the Catholic pilgrimage town of Medjugorje, southern Bosnia and Herzegovina, for the first time after a nearly three-month break caused by the coronavirus epidemic.
The Holy Trinity Sunday mass was led by friar Zvonimir Pavicic and it gathered the faithful behind the altar of the Saint Jacob Church in Medjugorje.

The town has experienced a sharp drop in visits since mid-March when the country’s authorities had to introduce the movement restriction measures over the coronavirus pandemic and close the borders.
Italians, who were amongst the most numerous guests there, started cancelling their trips in February after the coronavirus outbreak in their country.
Zeljko Vasilj, head of the Tourism Office in Medjugorje, said their arrival and tourism season, in general, will depend on the opening of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s borders.
