Just five days after winning the Belgrade Open Indoor Championship with a new personal and BiH record 21.22 meters, Bosnia’s best shot putter Mesud Pezer (30) will perform Sunday at the meeting in Luxembourg.
Pezer thus improved his previous indoor record, which was 21.15 meters and which he set on March 3, 2018, at the World Indoor Championships in Birmingham, where he finished fifth, by seven centimetres, while his personal and BiH outdoor record is 21.48 meters. He achieved that length on August 13, 2019, in the Swedish city of Växjö.
“I am happy and extremely satisfied that I achieved the result of a new indoor record, especially since it was my first performance this season. I've never thrown this well and this long in a season opener”, Pezer told FENA news agency.
His goal is to achieve the norm for the Olympic Games in Paris as soon as possible, which is 21.50 meters, as well as for the indoor World Cup in Glasgow, for which the norm is 21.70 meters.
“I believe that I can achieve both norms, because I am extremely fit and, most importantly, I am completely healthy”, he pointed out.
He did his preparations for this year, which he started back in October, in Zenica, and in December he spent 10 days in Makarska, croatia and, before the Belgrade Championship, he worked in that city for a total of 25 days.
